Select & Better
The face must be practically free of defects; this grade is color selected for black uniformity. The face may have small streaks, pin wormholes, burls, slight imperfections in milling that can be sanded out at installation and small tight knots. Average length 3 ¼ feet.

The face must be of best appearance but may contain sap, small streaks, pin wormholes, burls, slight imperfections in milling that can be sanded out at installation and small tight knots. Average length 3 ¼ feet.
1st Grade
The face will have natural color variations with unlimited sap and limited character marks. These marks can include pin wormholes, burls, slight imperfections in milling which can be sanded out at installation, and small tight knots. Average length 3 ¼ feet.
2nd & 3rd Grades
This rustic grade may contain sound natural variations of all types and manufacturing imperfections. This grade offers an economical floor and the natural character marks and contrasting appearance some consumers desire. Average length 2 ¼ feet.
Common #1
Has varying natural wood characteristics such as flags, heavy streaks and checks, wormholes, knots and minor imperfections. Average length 2 ¾ feet.
Common #2

Changes in relative humidity cause wood to swell and shrink. The first number represents the moisture content of wood during January, usually the driest period, and the second represents the moisture content during July, the dampest period. The larger the difference between teh two, the higher potential for movement from season to season.
